Informative Research Reports
Informative research just like the name suggest manly informs the audience. Unlike other research projects and papers, informative research normally centres on something new, a new development on a recent topic, or some facts that the particular audience did not know before. It is not meant to present an argument, point of view or opinion. Rather, it is meant to educate the audience on an aspect of a topic that the writer feels they do not understand. Needless to say, the structure and especially the language and content will be different. But the most different thing is the approach taken, as informative essays are highly considerate of the audiences. Some of the things informative essays can do include the presentation of the latest up to date research on a topic, defining complex terminologies and helping the reader solve problems in situations that have been causing them problems. Online class takers might also explain new cause ad effects relationships that the people did not realise existed before.
Choosing the topic
When choosing a topic in an informative research project, the writer should be very careful. It requires a little bit more research and better presentation skills to introduce something that is completely new.
Abstract
The abstract is normally a summary of the research project, the important results and the significant conclusions from the discussion. The abstract in this case should not be too long or be too repetitive.
Introduction
Introduction introduces the topic, giving good background on the topic. It should explain why the research project was conducted, the need for the new information and how the information from the informative research project will help change the situation. For instance, if a researcher found that the number of children dying from, for instance, cholera, was increasing in a particular country, then they would consider conducting research on alternative methods of transmission. If they find that the pathogen causing the disease is also airborne, then they may write an informative research paper on the subject.
Methods and results
In this section, the writer explains how they designed their research process and how they carried it out. It also lists the results they got.
Discussion
The discussion section explains in detail the significance of the new information brought to light, and has recommendations on how the people can use the information.
Conclusion
This section summarises the paper briefly, giving the important results, conclusions and recommendations. It may also contain information on differing points of view, and the problems faced during the research project. The works cited section should follow this part.
